In a press release issued today, THQ announced their plans to focus on its "core video game franchises and digital initiatives in the future." The "digital initiatives" means the company plans on creating dedicated digital properties for emerging platforms--most likely for iOS, Android, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Vita.
What this all really means is THQ will now stray away from kids liscenes like SpongeBob Squarepants in favor of its key properties, namely, UFC Undisputed, Darksiders II, Company of Heroes, Warhammer 40,000, and Saints Row: The Third, which the company also revealed sold 3.8 million units globally to date.
The company's goal now is to "optimize its portfolio for the current generation of consoles and to establish new franchises on the next generation of game devices," and says more information will come on February 2, at its third quarter 2012 conference call.
