The latest on the Microsoft Points phase-out rumors

Rumors made the rounds yesterday that the ever-popular Xbox Live currency known as "Microsoft Points" would be phased out by year's end, and that Microsoft will instead price downloadable content with real currency. There was also word that mobile developers were told to change and schedule their games around the currency switch. Well, that rumor appears to be false, as Microsoft Switzerlands told Gbase.de they "can not confirm these rumors - we are currently satisfied with the current Xbox Live Business model."

However, a Microsoft rep also told Joystiq that the company does not comment on rumor or speculation, so we're still at a stalemate as to whether or not the currency will change. I for one hope it does, mainly so I won't have to read them being called "spacebucks" anymore.
